WYFAO, in partnership with CARE International, proudly conducted a comprehensive Back to School Campaign and Social Audit Program in the remote communities of Zirkuh, Herat Province. This important initiative was implemented through our Community-Based Education (CBE) classes, which aim to provide quality education to the most vulnerable and underserved children—especially girls—who face challenges in accessing formal schools.
During the campaign, we engaged with local communities, distributed essential learning kits and school supplies to students and teachers, and encouraged families to send their children—especially girls—back to school. Local elders, parents, and educational authorities actively participated, showing strong support for our efforts to strengthen education in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
As part of the Social Audit component, our team visited various CBE classes to assess the learning environment, meet with students, teachers, and parents, and gather community feedback on the quality of education being provided. This transparency ensures accountability and empowers communities to take ownership of their children’s educational future.
WYFAO is committed to building brighter futures through inclusive, community-led education. Together with CARE International and the incredible support of local communities in Herat, we continue to bridge the gap between children and their right to learn.
WYFAO, with the generous support of CARE International, successfully organized the Back to School Campaign and Social Audit Program in Gulran District of Herat Province. This initiative was part of our ongoing effort to expand access to education through Community-Based Education (CBE) classes, specifically targeting children in remote and marginalized areas.
In Gulran, our campaign focused on mobilizing the community, encouraging parents to enroll their children into our CBE classes, and distributing essential educational materials and supplies. Teachers, students, and community leaders came together to celebrate the value of education and promote a supportive learning environment for every child.
The Social Audit activities involved classroom visits, direct engagement with teachers and learners, and open discussions with parents and community elders to ensure transparency, build trust, and gather valuable feedback to improve our education programs. This participatory approach helps us better understand the needs on the ground and tailor our efforts accordingly.
WYFAO remains deeply committed to reaching the unreached and promoting inclusive education across Herat. With the continued partnership of CARE International and the active involvement of local communities, we’re making real progress in empowering children through learning and hope.
