Job Description:
Job Summary: The WASH Manager (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Manager) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to water supply, sanitation, and hygiene within an organization or project. The WASH Manager is responsible for project planning, implementation, technical oversight, and team management to achieve the organization's WASH objectives
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Leadership:
Oversee the conception, planning, and execution of WASH projects while ensuring that they are in line with the aims and priorities of the organization.
Provide strategic direction for water supply, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives.
Technical Expertise:
Assist in the development and execution of WASH activities through technical advice and knowledge.
Make ensuring that projects follow the industry's best practices and standards.
Project Implementation:
Oversee the day-to-day execution of WASH programs, including keeping track of development and output standard.
To accomplish project objectives, collaborate with the project team, partners, and stakeholders.
Community Participation:
Through awareness campaigns, training, and capacity-building initiatives, promote community ownership of and participation in WASH projects.
Encourage target groups to adopt new behaviors and learn about good hygiene.
Reporting and Archiving:
Create regular reports on the status, difficulties, and successes of the project.
Keep thorough records of project activities, costs, and effect information.
Quality Control:
Make sure that all WASH operations adhere to safety and quality requirements.
To determine whether WASH programs are effective, conduct assessments and evaluations with coordination of MEAL team.
Collaboration & Coordination:
Engage alongside NGOs, donors, government organizations, and other stakeholders to integrate WASH activities into overarching development goals.
Participate in WASH sector working groups and coordination meetings.
Team Management:
Establish a culture of excellence and teamwork through hiring, training, managing, and mentoring the WASH project employees.
Take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Program Senior Manager.
Job Requirements:
Experience/ Education.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Environmental Science).
Proven experience in managing WASH projects, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
Strong technical knowledge of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
Exceptional project management, budgeting, and reporting skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards in the WASH sector.
Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments.
Language Requirements:
Proficiency in written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto.
